Panchayat

Panchayat is an initiative which tells Rungh’s story from its founding in 1991 to the present. A recording of South Asian Canadian cultural histories, with a Westcoast perspective, from the 1990s to the 2020s. Panchayat means “village council” in the Gujarati and several other South Asian languages. The word “panchaat” can also mean “gossip” or “story”. When people ask the basic who, what, where, when, and why questions about Rungh, we hope that the Panchayat initiative helps to answer those questions. Panchayat includes articles, conversations, and archive material. The Panchayat initiative is iterative and will keep changing as we research and share the updated stories.
