Panchayat Articles

Cover image for Panchayat articles on Rungh, focusing on storytelling and reflections.
These Panchayat articles are a work-in-progress. They can be read in a sequence which takes you from the founding of Rungh (Rungh Means Colour), to a deep dive into Rungh’s journey through the records kept in Rungh Magazine’s Canada Council for the Arts files in 1991 – 1998 (Documenting Rungh), to Rungh’s relationship and documentation of the Desh Pardesh gatherings in the early 1990s, to protests against the Vancouver Art Gallery (Local Colour), to the founding of the Minquon Panchayat (Canada’s first IBPOC national artist run centre movement), and Westcoast Punjabi Cultural Histories.  These articles will change over time as more of the Rungh story is revealed from our ongoing documentation and archive activation initiatives. What you are reading is a draft in progress with more to follow.
