Lakshmi Kannan is a bilingual writer who writes in English and Tamil, using the pen-name Kaaveri for her writings in Tamil. She has published twelve books that include fiction, poetry and translations. Many of her works have been translated into English and other Indian languages and into French, German, Spanish, Arabic and Bulgarian. Her work has also been included in anthologies such as The Inner Courtyard (Virago 1988).
