About this issue
Sira film
Finding the perfect mix is difficult.
At Rungh, we feature writers who are publishing for the first time, alongside those who have a long record of publication. We shine light on the past and the present. We focus on different geographies and forms of expression. We create linkages between IBPOC creators and communities. We have been doing this since 1992.
In this issue, Ashley Marshall does double duty as she reflects on both, an exhibition at the MOCA Toronto (Dancing in the Light), and a TIFF screened film based in the Sahel region of Africa (Sira). Aparita Bhandari reviews how The Caged Bird Sings at the Aga Khan Museum. Madeleine Reddon reflects on public displays of grief as she reviews Duane Linklater’s mymotherside at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago. Gurnoor Powar finds her family at Des Pardes at The Reach Gallery and Museum. Finally, as Rungh continues to document its journey from there to here, I talk with Am Johal at SFU’s Below the Radar Podcast about Archiving Counter-Histories.
At Rungh, it’s all about the IBPOC arts and culture mix.
