
David McGonigal-Videla
Born in Cuernavaca, Mexico, David McGonigal-Videla is a multicultural artist and writer residing in Moh’kins’tsis (Calgary). Through painting, video, and sculpture, he works with themes of mixed-race identity, immigration, and intergenerational trauma. More recently, he has been focusing on the histories of military intervention and natural disasters in Latin America, specifically the 1973 military coup in Chile from which his family fled. McGonigal-Videla’s work has been exhibited in Canada and the UK, and he received a BFA in Sculpture from the Alberta University of the Arts in 2020.
